Lord Whitty has announced two new grants in a bid to assist farmers

Food and farming minister Lord Whitty has announced two new grants under the Agriculture Development Scheme (ADS).

The grants are designed to help farmers and the food chain to achieve improvements in line with the government's strategy for sustainable farming and food. The Food Chain Centre will work to promote and explain benchmarking to farmers will also be funded.

The latest awards take the total amount in ADS grants since 2000 to more than £12.25 million.

Lord Whitty said: “These projects will help the food chain become more efficient. The Food Chain Centre's work will also encourage farmers to reap the benefits of benchmarking.”
