In excess of 80,000 visitors were recorded at this year’s RHS’s Tatton Flower Show, organisers have reported.

Among the most popular flower beds were a dramatic Dragon Dance, the mischievous schoolboy Just William and a Wallace and Gromit exhibit, visited by the cheese-loving pair’s creator, Nick Park.

Two large charity show gardens gained particular attention at the show. The Princes Trust garden, ‘A Personal Journey’, collected a gold medal, while the Anthony Nolan Trust was handed the Best in Show title for ‘The Bubble Garden’.

The Floral Marquee saw all of the nurseries grouped together for the first time. Some 26 gold medals were handed out at in the marquee.

Speakers in the RHS Talks & Demonstrations Marquee included TV personality Christine Walkden.
