Good Natured strawberries have arrived in the major multiples.

Angus Soft Fruits’ pesticide-free branded fruit is in Asda, Morrisons and Tesco stores nationwide while the company is celebrating the brand’s green credentials.

Good Natured has been awarded the Environmental Sustainability Award at the 2011 Scotland Food & Drink Awards - which recognise food and drink brands leading the way in innovation, enterprise and quality.

In addition to ensuring its produce is presented in recyclable and compostable packaging from fully sustainable sources, Good Natured has created an eco-site to share ideas with its consumers about how to recycle, build a compost heap and even start a worm farm (http://eco.goodnaturedfruit.co.uk/).

Jill Witheyman, marketing manager of Good Natured, said: “We pride ourselves on being Good Natured by name and good natured by nature, and we are absolutely delighted to have been recognised for our sustainability credentials. This is testament to the commitment of every member of the Good Natured team to our produce and the environment.”

Judges complemented Good Natured’s carbon emissions and its future carbon plan, and praised the consistent energy efficiency management. Summary comments indicated that the judges were “particularly impressed with the focus on the sustainable packaging, the eco website and carbon reduction initiatives”.
