Angus Soft Fruits has launched two new Good Natured lines into Asda.
Outstanding Onions will hit the shelves on 27 October and Bantastic Bananas arrived in 95 Asda outlets on 3 October as part of a trial, with a view to extending distribution in the future.
Both lines are grown to the Good Natured protocol using a combination of traditional growing methods and biological control with beneficial predators to ensure products are pesticide-residue free.
The onions grown in south Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk and supplied by Moulton Bulb are in all Asda stores nationwide and are grown in the UK, while the bananas are being supplied year-round by Fyffes and sourced from the Dominican Republic.
Marketing manager Jill Witheyman said: “Twelve-month availability is something we are working towards on Outstanding Onions. They are brown onions in 50-70mm size banding.”
The Good Natured team has carried out market research before the launch.
“We found that our existing customers wanted to see bananas and onions in our range. They have been in development for a while to allow us to develop the specific Good Natured growing protocol and to grow the products,” she added.
Lochy Porter, managing director of the brand said: “Adding two new products to our range is a step further in our ambition to give consumers a wide choice of pesticide residue free produce.”
Ban-tastic Bananas have an RRP of £1.37 for a bag of five bananas and Outstanding Onions are available in 750g packs at £1.30 each.
