Golden Delicious remains the UK's most popular apple, according to a new survey of consumer preferences conducted on behalf of fresh fruit delivery company Fruitdrop.
The poll of more than 1,000 people found that almost a quarter of respondents preferred Golden Delicious, with 29 per cent of men taking part saying they liked the variety best compared with only 23 per cent of women.
Granny Smith apples came a close second on 21 per cent, followed by Royal Gala (19 per cent), Braeburn (19 per cent) and Cox (17 per cent).
Ben Thompson, managing director of London-based Fruitdrop, commented: 'Apples are a customer favourite in our office fruit boxes, with seasonal varieties included throughout the year.'
