GlobalGAP is to return to Europe for its ninth conference, following its meeting in Bangkok last year.

An increasing number of producers in more than 80 countries are choosing GlobalGAP certification to fulfil demand for healthy, safe and sustainably produced food.

The three-day event, this time in Cologne, will kick off on October 15.

The programme will offer the opportunity to share in the latest developments in good agricultural practices from those joining the conference from around the world.

GlobalGAP chairman Nigel Garbutt will give a presentation on its latest developments and strategies, followed by a talk of success factors for global implementation by GlobalGAP managing director Dr Kristian Möller.

Willem Hofmans, chairman for the GlobalGAP sector committee for fruit and vegetables, will talk delegates through the main issues to be revised for the next version.

Presentations on a range of issues and sectors will be spread over the event, including a series of round table discussions topics such as the implementation of GlobalGAP version 3.0, integrated crop and pest management, microbial risks in fruit and vegetables, group certification for small farms and risk assessment.
