The 13 digit code will be used to look up producers no the GlobalGAP website

GlobalGAP has introduced a GlobalGAP number (GGN) to identify each legal entity registered in the GlobalGAP database.

This 13-digit number is unique and remains valid and attached to the legal entity as long as it exists.

It serves as search key on the GlobalGAP website to validate certificates and will display information on the producer’s registration number, product status and certificate validity.

In a statement, the certification body said: “Where packing cannot be reduced to one producer per consignment, the GLN number of the packhouse shall be applied.

“This GLN number can be obtained via the national GS1 organisation and can be communicated to the GlobalGAP secretariat together with the full address of the packhouse and where available, the IFS or BRC registration number.

“To facilitate traceability checks for these cases, a list of GGNs must be kept available on request for all batches of mixed consignments. This list shall be connected to the printed lot/batch number on the product or consignment.”
