The Gangmasters Licencing Authority has launched its first operation in Scotland this week, exercising powers to conduct spot checks on gangmasters in the fields of Perthshire, Angus and Aberdeenshire.

GLA Enforcement officers are checking the farms and fields to see if any unlicensed gangmasters are operating in the region and ensuring any licensed gangmasters are continuing to meet the set standards.

The news comes as a GLA Lincolnshire labour provider has become the first company to have their licence revoked in the region by the Authority.

A A A Personnel Ltd of Spalding had their licence revoked by the GLA as the time period for the company to appeal against the initial revocation decision has now expired.
