Thomas Gilpin, founder of Gilfresh Produce 

Veg supplier Gilfresh Produce has been named Northern Ireland’s Agri-Food Business of the Year with founder Thomas Gilpin presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The awards were presented at the recent Farming Life/Danske Bank awards. Other winners included founder of convenience foods supplier Cloughbane Farm Foods, Lorna Robinson, who won the Women of Excellence in Agriculture.

Gilpin said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be recognised as an outstanding Northern Ireland business and also to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Both are great recognition of the hard work of all at Gilfresh and the growers who supply superb products.”

Established as a grower of cabbage and scallion, Gilfresh Produce is based in County Armagh. It now supplies a range of vegetables to retailers throughout the UK, with produce from over 40 growers across Ireland.

The company has sales in excess of £18 million and employs around 130 people.
