A series of workshops are being organised at retailer head offices around the UK to discuss the impact of the new code of practice and licensing laws on gangmasters.

The events, organised by consultancy Ethical First, along with the retailers and the Temporary Labour Working Group, will explain to the industry the ramifications of the new legislation.

Zad Padda, from Ethical First, said: "There's a lot of confusion about what the code of practice and the licensing will mean. The workshops are designed to address that."

Michael Wilson, new chief executive of the Gangmaster Licensing Authority, along with Mark Boleat, chairman of the Association of Labour Providers, will be talking at each workshop, said Padda.

The first event takes place at Tesco's Country Club in Cheshunt, on Thursday, March 31. For further details see www.lpcode.co.uk.
