Fyffes in major Scots commitment

Fyffes’s Edinburgh operations are set to benefit from a huge investment and major relocation programme.

Early in 2007, the sole remaining wholesaler on the Edinburgh Fruit Market - Fyffes Produce - will relocate to a purpose built-site in Sighthill, Edinburgh.

Fyffes Produce will continue its wholesale business but will also amalgamate with Fyffes Distribution to occupy the brand new facility jointly.

“Where we are now at Fyffes Distribution, we have 10,000m2 but the new site is 75,000m2,” said Wilson Neil, commercial manager at Fyffes Distritbution. “We will have a standalone packhouse within in the new depot as well as different fridges for different temperature regimes and mango and avocado ripening rooms for our catering customers. The wholesale business will have 25 per cent of the site for face-to-face trading separated by a wall from the fridges and the rest of the depot.”

He will collect keys to the Sighthill facility on December 22.
