Fyffes hosted a Pancake Day race around Manchester's Albert Square to raise money for Comic Relief. "Even though the weather was against us," said Paul Barrett of Fyffes, "the people of Manchester turned out in force to brave the elements and do their bit to raise money for charity." Schoolchildren, students, fire-fighters, traffic wardens and businessmen were among those who took part in the event, which was opened by Lord Mayor of Manchester, councillor Hugh Barrett.
