The scientists who work for the USDA's Agriculture Research Service found that the beneficial fungi can increase green pepper yields by up to a third.

The fungi naturally colonise the roots on most cropping plants and can help them take up phosphorus and some other matter from the soil. But in modern production techniques have made it hard for the fungi to survive although they still have an important role to play. Their contribution could be all the more important for integrated crop management systems and organic production.
