FTA cuts out the risks

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has launched a new guide to help businesses manage the risks of driving while at work.

In 2003, responsibility for the safety of working drivers moved from the Road Traffic Act to the Health and Safety at Work Act. The FTA Driving at Work Compliance Guide aims to reduce confusion over the change and help companies manage the risks involved in driving at work.

There are around 300 deaths in the transport industry worldwide every year and it is estimated that one third of all road fatalities involve drivers who are working at the time.

The Driving at Work Compliance Guide can be downloaded from www.fta.co.uk/services/health.
