The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is reviewing how food safety regulations are enforced in the UK to make the system more efficient. “The FSA is responsible for the controls on food in the UK,” said FSA ceo Tim Smith. “But the enforcement is done in different ways… This system can be complex and in the current climate of increased financial pressures, it is timely to consider how we can secure better efficiency. Our goal will be to ensure that the system we have in place is the best way of protecting consumers.”
