Frustration at retail prices

UK retail practices are making grower-suppliers abroad question the value of the UK, sources have reported.

There are concerns South Africans and South Americans will look at having other possible destinations for their fresh produce supplies.

“Retailers like Tesco are starting to have a lot of knock backs and when they come with the begging bowl, some of the suppliers are just saying ‘count me out’,” one well-placed source told FPJ.

“There have been informal requests [from UK retailers] for retrospective payments at the end of the season. How on earth can you ask for that from a company retrospectively when it has not even been budgeted for?”
