Fruit Logistica opens its doors

Messe Berlin has opened its doors to the global fresh produce trade as Fruit Logistica gets underway in Berlin, Germany.

Around 2,300 exhibitors from all over the world are expected to take part in this year's Fruit Logistica, which officially opened yesterday at the ICC Berlin.

The 30th Fresh Produce Forum focused on ‘The true value of food in the discount era’ before the Fruit Logistica opening ceremony and welcome reception marked the start of the huge show.

The show is open until Friday at the Exhibition Grounds in Berlin. Offering excellent business contact opportunities as well as a comprehensive overview of the global fresh produce market, Fruit Logistica remains the industry's leading trade fair, attracting more than 50,000 visitors from 125 countries worldwide and providing a valuable opportunity for companies to promote their products and services to a broad range of industry players.

The event's global brand manager Gerald Lamusse told Eurofruit magazine: “The fresh produce business is entering a very vibrant era. Increasing cooperation and partnership up and down the value chain, advances in communication, transport and logistics technology, the entry of food retail chains into emerging markets, the inexorable increase in bilateral protocols between countries, the development of new and exciting varieties, the expansion of new marketing concepts, the increase in disposable income among populations around the world and the simple fact that fresh fruit and vegetables are the cornerstones of a healthy diet, all lead me to believe that opportunities will not be in short supply.”
