Parallel to its traditional activities, Fruit Logistica is ramping up its conference programme at next year’s event in Berlin.
Fruit Logistica 2009 will kick off with the 28th Fresh Produce Forum: "The future structure of trade - from production to the point of sale", on February 3.
In the evening, a representative from the German federal ministry of consumer protection, food and agriculture and Chilean minister of agriculture Marigén Hornkohl will officially open the trade fair, which will run from February 4-6. Keynote speaker for the evening will be Gert Schambach, director of German retail giant Edeka.
Six forums, organized by Fruchthandel, are planned for the three days of the fair. They are:
• "The battle of the retail formats - how will it end?" (Feb 4)
• "Chile - an importer with tradition and vision" (Feb 4)
• "Poland - the next big player in Europe?" (Feb 5)
• "CO2 and the cost of energy - the challenge for the fruit trade" (Feb 5)
• "The European consumer - the unknown quantity" (Feb 6) • • "Innovation in the fresh produce business - the perfect product launch" (Feb 6).
