The fair takes place at Messe Berlin, Germany

The organisers of the world’s largest fresh produce trade fair, Fruit Logisitca, have announced the line-up for its accompanying forum.

The 29th Fresh Produce Forum, taking place the day before the trade fair opens (February 2, 2010), will focus on the question: "Top image, but low returns. Does fresh produce need a relaunch?"

In the evening, representatives of the German federal ministry of food, agriculture and consumer protection will join the Mexican ministry of agriculture for the opening ceremony, headed up by keynote speaker Oliver Weidner, director of international quality management at Lidl.

Six hall forums will be staged over the three days of the trade fair under the themes: The retail trade in Europe - making the most of the crisis; Mexico - a partner with great potential; Agribusiness - partnerships in the produce food chain; New marketing norms in Europe - How is the trade coping?; Improving sourcing through product coding and standardisation; and Innovation in the fresh produce business - new trends in packaging.

Outstanding achievements in all sectors of the fresh produce trade will also be honoured with the industry awards on February 2, as well as the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award, presented on February 5.
