European fresh produce association Freshfel Europe has launched a charter to improve health in the workplace by increasing the availability of fruit and vegetables for employees and visitors at work.

The charter, which is one of the commitments for 2007 made by Freshfel within the framework of the EU Platform for Action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health, has now been sent to all Freshfel member companies and associations for endorsement.

The charter invites companies to make sure that fruit and vegetables are made available in meetings and premises for both employees and visitors.

Once signed, the charter is set back to the endorsing company and displayed.

The document will soon be sent to other public and private stakeholders to endorse “Freshfel believes hat with each commitment we have a greater chance to change positively our eating habits, whilst boosting consumption of fruits and vegetables,” said a statement from Freshfel.
