Fruit Factory to target teens

A new brand of ambient fruit smoothies was unveiled last week, from The Big J.

Fruit Factory products are not-from-concentrate smoothies, aimed at the teenage and young adult market.

Eight different blends include pineapple, satsuma and mango, as well as pomegranate, plum and blueberry.

The 100 per cent pure fruit drinks are packaged in an asceptic process, without preservatives or boiling, but without the need for refrigerated transport or storage. The longer shelf life means there is a lower risk of the smoothies expiring in storage or on the shelves.

“Fruit Factory smoothies are prepared in the same way as chilled smoothies, but we have invested in the type of packaging we use, to achieve a longer shelf life and cut waste,” said a spokeswoman. “It is the way we make the product, rather than what we add to it, that gives it its long shelf life and enables it to be stored in ambient conditions.”
