Fruit chiller unveiled for convenience sector

A prototype for a new plug-in refrigerated display unit for fruit was unveiled by Westmann this week.

The unit will be launched in July, and has so far attracted interest from convenience retailers and farm shops, as well as supermarkets.

Westmann managing director Frank Reynolds told FPJ: “When shoppers walk into a shop, the first thing they see is the display, so this unit has been designed so that all the fruit can be seen easily.

“It has been designed to hold Euro crates so that produce does not have to be moved from one container to another.

“We have a standard range, from heights of 1.4 metres to 2.25m, but we are able to custom-make units. We design, manufacture, deliver and install, so we offer a complete service,” he added.

The Ireland-based retail display supplier has designed and manufactured systems for stores that stock fresh produce, including Irish supermarkets Super Value and Sentra, for more than 20 years.
