Fruit and veg needs a strong visual impact

Fruit and vegetables need to have a strong visual impact at the point of sale, according to supply giants Chiquita.

Michaela Schnieder, marketing manager, said: “Because fruit and veg tends to impulse purchases we must create a strong impact at the POS.”

She said her company’s focus remained on quality and the brand name: “We are also endeavouring to expand our range of products.”

The company is also making efforts to respond to the wishes of its customers, with an increased focus on tailor-made activities, especially on display.

Schneider said exhibiting at Fruit Logistica had proved to be a useful exercise for Chiquita: “Even on the first day of the fair we were holding useful and interesting discussions with customers on our stand. We also had many new contacts too.”
