Cambridgeshire-based produce supplier From My Farm is seeking more UK grower partners as its looks to expand its business.

The Produce World subsidiary, which has a focus on local produce and supplies Morrisons and Waitrose among others, currently has a turnover of more than £1 million and is planning an expansion into further regions.

Launched in 2008, From My Farm covers four regions of the country - the East of England, Yorkshire, the South West and Scotland with supplies coming from 70 growers.

The company believes consumers are prepared to pay more for regionally sourced produce and so From My Farm aims to offer its growers the best terms possible to help product reach the market place.

From My Farm Procurement Manager Rob Stevens said: “The relationship we have with our growers is mutually beneficial. They provide us with fresh, seasonal, regional produce and in return we give many of the smaller growers, who might not otherwise have the economy of scale, the opportunity to supply the big multiples.

“But even bigger producers who have their own relations with the multiples benefit from working with us. We can provide marketing advice, including PR opportunities to raise their profile locally, regional hubs through which the produce is distributed, packing and labelling facilities, storage, and a knowledge of supply chain management for their region.”

The company has a goal of achieving a “sustainable margin” for its growers and is looking to add to its range of producers attained by “recommendations, industry affiliates and hub partners”.

“The team at From My Farm have all been involved in farming for a number of years in fact many of us come from farming families ourselves. This means our understanding of farmers and farming is real and our appreciation of their passion, commitment and professionalism, often in the face of extremely tough conditions, is genuine,” adds Stevens.
