Lincolnshire prepared produce firm Freshtime is hosting a ‘Fire and Ice’ gala ball to raise awareness and funds for its new local charity, Freshtime Futures Trust.

The company has supported a charity of the year for the past few years, but is widening its charitable work through establishing its own trust to help young people aged 11 to 25 to fulfil their dreams with financial support.

BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Melvyn Prior, the event aims to raise awareness and help boost funds via an auction, which includes prizes such as the chance to be a mascot at Boston United, a training session with Commonwealth gold medallist Callum Johnson and a three-day charter on a luxury yacht. Funds raised during the auction will be added to the £15,000 that was raised during Freshtime’s supplier and golf days in July.

With around 500 guests set to attend, the gala will take place on Saturday 24 September 2016 at the Springfields Event Centre in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

Mark Newton, managing director of Freshtime and trustee of the Freshtime Futures Trust, said: “The trust will make funding available to help young people access specialist training or apprenticeship schemes or to support additional academic pursuits.

“I can’t wait to welcome all of our guests to the gala. It’s going to be a wonderful evening and an opportunity to hear more about the aims of the trust and raise some money.

“It will also provide us with a chance to encourage our guests to tell their friends and family about the charity to help encourage local people to submit an application. I’m eager to get started and help the young people of Lincolnshire achieve their dreams.”

Other trustees include Air Commodore Chris Luck; Peter McDermott, managing director of Pumpkin; Graham Shooter, director of A.E. Lenton Group and chief constable Neil Rhodes of Lincolnshire Police. They are joined by Freshtime chairman Mark Swanwick and head of procurement John Stokes, as well as Newton.
