An HDRA one-day seminar discussing the latest developments in the world of organic vegetables will take place in Warwickshire next month.

Fresh Thinking in the Organic Vegetable Market, taking place on February 28, will offer delegates the chance to hear the latest findings from HDRA’s Defra-funded Organic Vegetable Market Study and its Supermarket Watch Survey.

In addition, the seminar will involve presentations and workshops on organic vegetable market research.

The morning session will feature Andrew Fearne from Imperial College talking about Understanding the Consumer, with Ian Nelson, of Sunnyfield Organic and Susanne Padel, from Aberystwyth University. In the afternoon delegates can hear about Value Chain Analysis from the Food Chain Centre’s Peter Whitehead, and Andrew Burgess from RB Organics.

HDRA researcher Natalie Geen said: “This seminar aims to provide an accessible forum for sharing the results of new research and resources in the organic vegetable market. This is vital for everyone who wants to meet market demands, whilst still making a profit, in the current price climate. The predictions of a shortage of suitable land for growing organic vegetables and dramatic increases in direct sales make this event especially important.”

The seminar will cost £25 per person and includes an organic lunch. Full details are available from www.organicveg.org.uk.
