The major multiples dominated the 2003 Quality Food & Drink Awards, organised by Checkout magazine and Independent Retail News. The awards were sponsored by the Private Label Manufacturers Association, and presented at The Dorchester in a glittering ceremony on London's Park Lane on November 12.

The audience saw 16 of the 23 awards go to Sainsbury's, Tesco and Marks & Spencer, with Somerfield and Waitrose also gaining prizes.

In the fresh produce sector, Sainsbury's Anya Potatoes won a silver Q, while M&S was highly commended for its Jubilee strawberries, supplied by KG Fruits.
