The National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association (FARMA) has announced the winners of its 2011 National Farm Retail Awards in Bournemouth.
Fifteen awards in total were given out to a range of businesses from England, Scotland and Wales. Highlights for the fresh produce industry were the winners of both the urban farmers’ market and rural farmers’ market awards. The former was won by Winchester Farmers’ Market and the latter by Ripley Farmers’ Market in Surrey, both of which have very strong fresh produce offers.
The best on-farm seasonal attraction award was won by field veg specialist Pink Pig Farm in Lincolnshire, while Ardross Farm Shop in Fife, which won the Rising Star award for Scotland, is also a prominent vegetable grower.
