Fresh Direct set to revolutionise foodservice with Pr2

Fresh Direct, a contender for this year’s Carmel Foodservice Supplier of the Year at next week’s Re:fresh Awards, has selected the Pr2 software solution from Prophet plc.

Pr2 has enjoyed considerable success in the supermarket supply chain with importers, distributors and packers and this deal extends the reach of the software into the foodservice sector.

Fresh Direct is known as one of the industry’s most forward-thinking companies, and said this move is highly innovative, as the software not only deals with the normal aspects of trading and accounting, but will also bring warehouse automation into the catering sector, with hand-held scanning and automated picking lines as the key project goal.

Colin Harris, operations director of Fresh Direct, pictured with Nigel Harris, managing director, told the Journal: “We operate on very tight deadlines and have to organize hundreds of people every minute of every day to ensure our customers get the right product in the right condition at the right time. The flexible Microsoft technology within Pr2 lets us get an exact fit and establish and refine the rules through which we manage the business. Pr2 offers us the ability to make software capture everything as it happens and coordinate all of this seamlessly in real time.”

Mark Peachey, managing director of Prophet, added. “This last 12 months has seen a rapid take-up of Pr2 by the industry in the UK and this deal marks a milestone in its acceptance as a standard against which to be measured.”

Prophet is the main sponsor of the Re:fresh Conference, at the London Marriott on May 5.
