Fresh boss in at Morrisons

Morrisons has appointed Andrew Pleasance to head up its fresh category after a period of flux in the department.

Pleasance held responsibility for the bakery, meat, fish and produce departments and now becomes the commercial director for fresh foods.

He will take up the role from Chris Walker who is to leave the position next month, it was announced last week.

The fresh produce department remains without a dedicated boss, with trading directors Andy Garton and James Judd set to report directly to Chris Walker, and then Andrew Pleasance.

Pleasance has been credited with the successful roll-out of Morrisons’ Fresh Lab concept, which has seen it trialling new ways of selling fresh food with positive results.

Group retail director Mark Harrison praised Pleasance’s work on Fresh Lab.
