A total of 86 French exhibitors and sales promotion organisations were united under the Sopexa name at Fruit Logistica.

Kristin Unruh, spokeswoman for Sopexa said a particular highlight of the show was the number of new club varieties on display.

At this year’s Fruit Logistica, French exhibits included two apple varieties, one nectarine and one kiwi, all of which are new items.

The trend towards more convenience foods also shows no sign of easing up, Unruh said.

“Today’s consumers want meals that can be prepared as quickly as possible while remaining tasty.

“French producers have responded to this requirement for labour-saving, easy to prepare meals with some new products.

“New this year are the Ariane apple from Pomalia, the Summer Kiwi from Prim'Land, the pre-packed DUO microwave dish from Prince de Bretagne and packaging using stay-fresh bags and dishes from Pom'Alliance.”
