French salad giant Bonduelle is targeting a major increase in sales on the German market with the planned expansion of its processing, packing and distribution facility in Straelen, North Rhine-Westphalia.
According to the Rheinische Post, the company will extend the facility in two phases, from 5,000m2 to 9,000m2, spending around €6m to expand the centre and install new technology.
With work due to commence in March, the company is set to complete the expansion at the end of 2014.
Bonduelle's Straelen site reportedly produced a total of 35m bags of ready-to-eat salad for sale on the German market.
The company is currently promoting Disney's animated film Wreck-It Ralph (Ralph Reichts) – directed by Simpsons lead Rich Moore – on packs of its Frischer Kindersalat children's salads.
