The British Potato Council is calling lorry drivers to support National Chip Week by displaying stickers on their vehicles.

The sixteenth annual event, which is aimed at reminding consumers that they can eat chips as part of a balanced diet, will kick off on February 12.

The lorry stickers are available free at www.potato.org.uk.

National Chip Week generated £2.8 million of positive press coverage for chips last year. Many chip shops reported a sales uplift, according to the BPC.

Activities planned for the 2007 event include an attempt to break five world records in five days and a high-profile PR campaign featuring new chip recipes and food comparison facts, as well as a redesign of the official website, www.lovechips.co.uk.
