FPC leader to step down

Doug Henderson has announced his decision to step down from his role as chief executive of the Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC). He has held the position since the formation of the UK's trade association in 1992.

Recruitment company Merston Peters has been selected to find a successor and the search will begin immediately. FPC president Dick Brighten said: “We have no preconceived ideas of gender, age or nationality ñ we just want to find the right person for the job. This is a unique role in many ways, people on so many levels need to be satisfied with the response they receive from the ceo of the FPC.”

Once a successor is appointed “in the foreseeable future” Henderson, 59, will remain in some capacity, in order to complete various on-going projects and offer the new ceo assistance.

The FPC is not yet able to confirm a salary for the position, but adverts will appear in trade and national press in the near future.
