The Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC), has announced that Nigel Jenney will be taking up the position of Chief Executive on the retirement of Doug Henderson, in early May.

Jenney, who is in his early forties, started his career in the fresh produce industry in 1982, working in the Department of Agriculture & Fisheries for Scotland. He moved to HJ Heinz in 1988, ERFP in 1996 where he was managing director, and then to Univeg, where he is also currently md.

He is married with two children, lives in Lincolnshire and has a broad spectrum of interests. FPC president, Dick Brighten, speaking on behalf of the FPC Council said that “we are delighted to have secured the services of Nigel who brings a depth of experience to the FPC”. In addition he went on record as extending “sincere thanks and appreciation for the excellent and most professional job that Doug Henderson has performed since the inception of the FPC 12 years ago”.

Brighten added: “Doug will be missed greatly but we are fortunate in maintaining his services as a consultant until the conclusion of 2004”.
