Fowler Welch in Somerfield link

Fowler Welch Coolchain (FWC) has recently been awarded Somerfield's national consolidation contract for a range of temperature controlled products.

Since mid-April, produce, prepared foods and horticultural deliveries have been consolidated at three of FWC's regional centres for onward distribution to Re:fresh award-winning Somerfield's seven RDCs.

David Inglis, md of FWC, is delighted that Somerfield has chosen the company as its preferred partner for the business and is looking forward to building its relationship with Somerfield by extending the service offering into mainland Europe, where FWC already operates.

"Fowler Welch Coolchain is widely recognised as being one of the leading fresh consolidation operators in the industry," said Richard Parker, Somerfield's primary distribution executive. "We are very confident that FWC has the experience to help Somerfield develop and improve still further on what has been an extremely successful two years' work since the produce consolidation network was created".

Operational integration, using both Somerfield's and FWC's fleets will deliver further efficiencies as both companies are committed to finding the lowest cost to operate, said Inglis. "Any other approach would be failing our customers," he said.
