Fruit processing giant Fourayes has announced a £1.3 million investment in new technology as part of its 60-year anniversary celebrations.
The investment, which is primarily in new apple processing equipment including a new peeler that limits waste, will increase productivity in the production of jams and aseptic purees.
According to the firm, volumes of the two products have gone up by 70 per cent over the last six months.
Phil Acock, MD of Fourayes said: “We have a five year expansion plan and that includes this significant investment in new technology.
'We are delighted that even in times of recession the demand for “affordable treats” has increased, and the evidence is that we are making products that everyone wants.'
