Reading-based IFIS Publishing has published the eight edition of its FSTA Thesaurus. This edition contains 10,246 terms, including 700 new terms that reflect developments in food science, food technology and nutrition since the seventh edition was published in 2004.
The FSTA Thesaurus is a companion and user aid to facilitate searching of the FSTA- Food Science and Technology Abstracts® database. It is available in both print and electronic formats.
FSTA is the world’s leading database of information on food science, food technology and nutrition. First published in 1969, it now contains approximately 740,000 records and continues to grow at a rate of approximately 35,000 records per year. FSTA comprises records prepared from journals, patents, books, reports, conference proceedings, standards, legislation and theses originating from a total of 90 countries and 40 languages.
The FSTA Thesaurus is based upon the frequency of occurrence of terms in FSTA. It remains an invaluable tool when planning search strategies for the FSTA database and a useful reference tool for library use.
