Dutch firm Florema Young Plants has announced a working tie-up with Feldhaus Jungpflanzen for the propagation of Pelargonium, Osteospermum and Dipladenia.

The collaboration, with covers Pelargonium Feco varieties, Osteospermum Shorty and Tolonga varieties and Dipladenia Canary Summer, hopes to pool the two companies’ strengths in breeding to increase plant propagation and the active sale of a complete assortment across Europe.

Florema reports that cutting produced bedding plants are becoming an increasingly important part of its portfolio. But as Pelargonium is an important part of its flower cuttings it felt an association with Feldhaus would be of benefit.

“We are convinced that preserving ouur independence and functions in small units will result in an optimal operation. The positive effects of that will benefit our clients with respect to direct contact, organizational flexibility and product-quality.

“This partnership will allow both Florema Young Plants and Feldhaus Jungpflanzen to utilize their strong points, also with respect to other pot-plants and flowers, to the maximum,” Florema said in a statement.

It listed other benefits as being the modern and well-organised breeding of a wide assortment of flowering plants, the reliable production of rooted and unrooted cuttings originating from a variety of mother-plant locations, a large degree of flexibility with respect to deliveries to the client, and sales across Europe through a network of reps, agents and subsidiaries.
