Floral spectacle planned for Chelsea

For the first time a collection of the world’s best florists and well known fashion designers are joining forces to create a floral spectacle at the 2008 Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show, sponsored by landscaper Marshalls plc. A profusion of flowers in the Floral Design Studio will celebrate limited edition designs created for the renowned catwalk of the gardening world.

Floral designer Jane Packer use peonies from the Chelsea Handbag, created by Susannah Hunter, while the modern elegance of Ben de Lisi will be the inspiration for Fiona Barnett, and Paula Pryke will be drawing on the illustrious heritage of one of London’s most famous fashion emporiums, Liberty’s of London.

Paula Pryke, one of the world’s most famous and respected florists with a reputation for creating innovative and brilliantly colourful floral designs, will be featuring beautifully crafted bejewelled bugs in her display, which will be hidden amongst tropical colours of iridescent blues and turquoises to capture the exotic nature of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Liberty’s of London scarf.

Florist Fiona Barnett takes a theatrical approach to her work having created displays for the opening night parties of Les Miserables, Oliver, My Fair Lady, and Mary Poppins.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show will be held from May 20 to 24 at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, in London.
