Dutch auction-operator FloraHolland has announced the winners of its prestigious Glazen Tulp awards 2012. Each year the accolades are given to the most successful new products in the categories of cut flowers, houseplants, garden plants and sales concepts. The four Glazen Tulp awards were presented at a ceremony on 20 January in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. The winner of the cut-flower award was ArcadiA’s disbudded chrysanthemum Anastasia Star. Its subtle colour progression and soft tone impressed the judging panel.
In the garden plants category native Australian plant Ptilotus exaltatus Joey supplied by Firma C&M Kester triumphed for it softness as well as rain resistance.
Begonia eliator Sunny White supplied by Pilgt Professionals and F8P ten Have won the houseplants category for being “nostalgic, retro and very hip”.
And in the concepts category the simple, modern anthurium bouquet Full Colour supplied by Anthura was a runaway winner as it has proved successful with male consumers and according to the judges was “well thought-out and not too expensive for the target group”. Its long vase life was also dubbed an advantage.
