Elementary schools across Oregon have become the first in the US to serve ‘Fizzy Fruit’ in their lunch menus. The snacks, which are made by The Fizzy Fruit Company (FFC), have been developed in an effort to make fruit more exciting for children.

Fizzy Fruit is being served at select elementary schools. The snacks have been created through a patented process that adds carbonation to the water that is naturally contained in fruit. They contain no preservatives or added sugar and have the same vitamins and fibre content found in fresh fruit. The result is grapes, apples and oranges that bubble in the mouth.

“The aim is to help children enjoy their daily recommended allowance of fruit and lead a healthy lifestyle,” said Tammy Marquez-Oldham, ceo at FFC. “We believe our product will make a positive impact in children’s lives.”
