Tesco received its first delivery of loose Jersey Royal potatoes of the year on Wednesday.
The Jersey Royal Company signalled the start of the season with the hand delivery of its famous potatoes direct to Tesco’s flagship store in Kensington.
This is the earliest that Tesco have ever received supply of Jersey Royal potatoes, as they are usually not available until mid-March.
Paul Thomas, Tesco senior buying manager, said:“We are delighted to take delivery of these early-season Jersey Royal potatoes, meaning our customers can experience the taste of summer earlier than ever before. With the weather in the UK less than pleasant, we are sure this will come as welcome news to Jersey Royal potato lovers.”
Loose Jersey Royal Potatoes are on sale at Tesco priced at £2.99 a kilo.
