First Freshconex deemed a success

The fresh-cut congress and exhibition Freshconex 2008 welcomed a total of 10,000 trade visitors at its debut alongside Fruit Logistica in Berlin, from February 7-9. Visitors viewed the products and services within 2,400msq of exhibition space of 62 leading companies from 14 nations.

Three-quarters of exhibitors were generally satisfied with the outcome of their participation at Freshconex and 83 per cent said they would recommend the trade fair to business associates and colleagues. Total of 87 per cent said they planned to return for Freshconex in 2009.

“The number of visitors was amazing,” said Karen Murphy, marketing manager of Agricoat UK, which was one of the exhibitors at the event. “We’ve been exhibiting at Fruit Logistica for eight years, but the first day at FreshConex was by far our most successful ever at a trade fair.”

Four-fifths of the trade visitors said that they achieved their objectives, and in addition to the fresh-cut products, packaging and labelling, and processing technology were high on the list of visitor interests.

Most of the trade visitors identified themselves as fruit and vegetable growers, importers, exporters, wholesalers and retailers. Some 74 per cent of the trade visitors hold top positions in their companies. In addition, 82 per cent of trade visitors stated that they play a role in purchasing or procurement decisions in their companies.

Nine out of 10 trade visitors expressed a good or very good overall impression of the trade event. Some 92 per cent would recommend Freshconex to their colleagues or business associates. Finally, 84 per cent of all trade visitors said they planned to be back for the next Freshconex.

The next Freshconex will take place parallel to Fruit Logistica 2009 from February 5 to 7, 2009 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.
