Eighty per cent of UK food and drinks producers from the UK expect international sales to grow in 2004, according to a survey by Food from Britain (FFB).

According to FFB, UK exporters are increasingly taking advantage of the strong economic conditions, particularly in Europe. Sterling’s competiveness against the Euro is helping to fuel exports, alongside innovative UK products, which are becoming increasingly popular with consumers.

However, 32 per cent of UK exporters who responded cited North America as the area with the greatest potential. Survey respondents also listed key European markets including France and Germany.

Simon Waring, international management director at FFB, said: “Trading conditions in the EU are helping UK companies to build their business in Europe, but the innovation and quality of products is also boosting exports.”
