Hurricane Felix has been downgraded to a tropical depression the day after making landfall in Central America, but Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador are not out of the woods yet as large volumes of rainfall are forecast.

Meteorologists forecast that Felix would depost six to 10 inches of rain in northern Nicaragua and El Salvador and the prospect for Honduras is damper still with an expected 15 inches. Isolated maximum amounts of 25 inches are possible in mountainous areas, the US National Hurricane Centre advised, warning that there could be life-threatening flash floods and mud slides.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Henriette made landfall on the Pacific coast of Central America moving up into Baja California on Tuesday. It is too early to tell if there has been any damage to crops by either storm yet.
