National Family Learning Week, held from October 6 to 14, is promising that thousands of community venues, including farm organisations, will be taking part in the event.

The overall theme of Family Learning Week is ‘Discovery’, but farm organisations are being encouraged to organise their own activities to suit their own resources and objectives as well as the needs and interests of the families themselves.

The Campaign for Learning is offering advice and support, as well as planning materials, promotional merchandise and specialists resources such as a planning guide. These are all available via their website at www.familylearningweek.com.

“With the Campaign’s help you could be supporting families to discover the countryside code,” organisers suggest. “Or discovering where food comes from, discovering farming life or simply the fun of learning together. And as an organisation you could discover new ways to reach and communicate with families, build links with the communities and help families learn.”
