Farmland prices set to rise by a third

Latest figures of agricultural land prices from rural estate agent Savills show the market for farmland is very robust despite the economic downturn.

Average values of grade 3 arable land rose last year by 6.5 per cent to £5,612 an acre.

Savills said capital value growth for the next five years will outstrip most commodities markets, UK gilts and even West End offices and projects an increase of 36 per cent.
