More than 60 beacon farmers and land managers across England adopting signs to show they are protecting the environment and wildlife on their farms to support the Campaign for the Farmed Environment (CFE).

The signs, supported by Syngenta, will enable farmers and land managers to promote the key target options in Entry Level Stewardship (ELS) and campaign voluntary measures that they are adopting.

The CFE is working on its project, Operation Pollinator which was launched a year ago and farmers involved are already establishing and managing pollen rich habitat in key locations on farm.

Many of the measures and options promoted by the CFE and Operation Pollinator are near public footpaths so the signs will also help the public understand why these wildlife areas exist.

Luke Gibbs, head of public affairs at Syngenta, said: “A sustainable farming system, balancing production with the need to safeguard and enhance the farmed environment sits at the heart of Syngenta’s approach to agriculture. We are delighted to provide these signs to promote to the public the work being done by farmers through the CFE to get this balance right.”
