Blackmoor Estate, Hampshire and AC Goatham & Sons, Kent have each taken over their new 13,000 sq ft controlled-atmosphere (CA) stores. The new stores have eight separate CA compartments and have been built using polyisocyanurate insulated panels, CA doors with inspection hatches, and internal panel joints have been gas-sealed with Ribbfill paint.

Liquid amplification pumps are expected to ensure efficiency of the system and reduce running costs by 30-45 per cent. Each store also has three-compressor packs and is connect to Farm Refrigeration's own design of low-profile, low-velocity coolers which give even air distribution and steady temperatures with low fruit dehydration.

Farm Refrigeration worked with experienced contractors International Controlled Atmosphere and Scorpion Engineering Construction to complete the stores.

And growers are very pleased with results. "They provided me with exactly what I asked for ñ a new store of up-to-date specification at a very competitive price, totally on time and with no extras," said Clive Goatham of AC Goatham & Sons.
